The Mark of Athena, by Rick Riordan

The Mark of Athenaby Rick Riordanwas a book about 7 demigods that were trying to save the world. Annabeth, the daughter of Athena, tries to find the statue of her mother.

I enjoyed this book because it was centered around Greek and Roman gods, goddesses, and demigods. The ending was a great cliff that left the reader looking forward to the next book.

The seven chosen demigods, Percy, Annabeth, Jason, Piper, Hazel, Frank, and Leo, continue on their quest to close the Doors of Death. While they are at the Roman camp, their warship mysteriously opens fire on the camp leading them to have to escape as the Romans try to retaliate. They go to get repairs and continue on their journey and they find clues for where to go and what to do there even as they face many dangerous challenges. Annabeth goes off on her own journey to follow the mark of Athena. Very dangerous events occur and unexpected things happen to the group of friends as they try to reunite after splitting up to try to figure out how to continue their quest.
I thought this book was amazing. I couldn't stop reading it and I can't wait for the next one in the series. It was action-packed and filled with many suspenseful scenes. The interaction between the characters also made many funny scenes and gave depth to the book past action and adventure. I would recommend this book to everyone because it is an exciting, adventurous book filled with many different scenes that keep you wanting more. I got more interested in Greek and Roman mythology after I read this book. I got very engrossed in this book and I loved reading it because I was looking forward to reading it for a long time.

The Mark of Athena is a story about Annabeth, who has been searching for Percy ever since he mysteriously disappeared. Though Jason appeared right after Percy, which was a bit suspicious. Eventually, they realize that he has been switched with Jason so that they can bring peace between the two camps; Camp Jupiter and Camp Half-Blood. Once they escape Camp Jupiter they realize that the only way to stop the rebirth of Gaea is to travel to Rome itself and stop the two giants who are in charge of her rebirth. The only way to do that is with the ship, The Argo II.

I think that this was a great third part of The Heroes of Olympus series because it brought all the characters from The lost Hero and all the characters from The Son of Neptune, plus added more to make it all the better. When Jason and Percy figure out what happened they realize they must team up if they want to stop the rebirth of the earth god, Gaea. This was very interesting to read because it was great watching all the old characters from the past stories meet each other and connect. Overall, they realize that they are all fighting for mainly the same reason. I loved this book and would recommend this to any other teen reader.

I chose to read this book because it was the sequel to The Son of Neptune and I wanted to see how the Romans reacted to the Greek warship closing in on their camp. In this book, the Greek demigods try to unite with the long despised Roman demigods to close the Doors of Death opened by the evil Earth goddess Gaea. However, many things go wrong and now the Greek demigods are on their own and they alone have to save the world from total destruction.

What I didn't like about this book was that the reader's point of view constantly kept changing every few chapters to different characters when really the only people i wanted to be "informed" on were Percy, Annabeth, and Leo. What I did like about this book was how well placed the humor was in this book. My favorite quote was "I try not to think. It interferes with being nuts" because it shows how funny Leo, the brains and engineer of the group, is. I would recommend this book to people who like fantasy and action books because it has those elements in this book.

The seven demigods in the previous series unite and meet together, until the other creatures control the demigods to fire New Rome, which made the situations between Greek and Roman demigods worse. However, they must unite to defeat the evil mother, Gaea and stop her from waking up. While Annabeth was trying to save the statue of Athena, she falls into the tartarus, and Percy, trying to save her falls in with her too.

I personally liked this book, but the cliff hangers agitated me so much. I was eager to know the next part and the next sequel happens to be also a cliff hanger. I wouldn't recommend it to my friends, because most of them read this book already and people who hasn't aren't interested in this type of genre of the book. I really disliked the part when romance kicked in, but I was satisfied well enough with the book because the book itself was a great book.
