Unbroken: An Olympian's Journey from Airman to Castaway to
Captive follows the incredible story of Louis Zamperini, former Olympian and
World War II veteran as he fights for survival in the bloodiest conflict in
human history. Readers will run alongside Zamperini as he competes in the
Olympic games, fly with him as he takes to the sky in a US Air Corp bomber,
float with him for 47 days in the seemingly endless ocean, and celebrate the
inner strength required to survive in the astonishing true story that unfolds
in Unbroken.
I loved this book. It shows the remarkable power of human
strength in the face of staggering odds. No matter how bleak the situation,
Zamperini never gave up, and that’s how he managed to overcome the formidable
obstacles in his path. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys stories
of human courage and ingenuity. For younger readers, I would recommend the
abridged young adult version of the book.
