Artemis Fowl, by Eoin Colfer

Artemis Fowl Jr. is a 12 year old boy, son of an Irish crime lord Artemis Fowl Sr. But Artemis is not your average 12 year old; he has an unusually high intellect and follows in his father's footsteps as a crime lord. Through intense research and non-stop searching Artemis believes he has confirmed the existence of fairies and wishes to exploit them and their power for glory and profit. So he sets his plan into action, tracking down LEP officer Captain Holly Short and capturing her in hopes to hold her ransom against the people of the Lower Elements. But the Lower Elements Police are not to be under-estimated and Artemis Fowl will soon find out how far they are willing to go to get back their comrade; and preserve the secrecy of their people.

Artemis Fowl, by Eoin Colfer, is a mind-bending science-fiction novel that will keep you entertained throughout the whole story. It has action, drama and a sort of spy-film like style which draws the reader in and keeps you hooked. I like how the author made the antagonist of the series a young boy genius so that you do not expect such a young child to be capable of pulling off the schemes that he does. The novel is the first in the series but I guarantee after finishing the first one you will want to go out and buy the next because this series is one that you absolutely must read.

In this book, Artemis is the main character who is a young, rich genius. He is young enough to believe in the existence of fairies, and he plans to exploit his beliefs to take the fairy's gold. in the end, he kidnaps a female fairy to exchange for ransom, and the fairy world and Artemis battle to win it all.
I enjoyed this novel, because although it was unreal, the story and the plot itself was very fun to read. It was fun to read a fantastical story after reading only classic books for a long time.

This book was great beacause Artemis always foiled the fairies no matter what they threw at him. It kept me on the edge of my seat making me wonder how he would solve each problems they give him. It kind of reminded me of my little brother no matter what we threw at him he always solved it. This book would appeal to people who love foiling other people and those who has a sense of humor. It also made me think that we would do almost anything to save our families.

Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer is about twelve year old criminal mastermind called Artemis Fowl II. His father was lost at sea and his mother has gone insane. He uncovers the secret world of fairies and figures out that they have immense amounts of gold. To return the fowl family to its former glory he needs a lot of money... like the immense amounts of gold the fairies possess. He kidnaps an elf named Holly Short and imprisons her. He demands a ransom of one metric ton of twenty-four carat gold. The gold ransom is payed to Artemis but half is given back, but for what reason?

Artemis Fowl isn't a book about sparkly, pretty fairies, these fairies are a technologically advanced species that were pushed into living underground by the humans. Its a great book in a great series that twists everyone's idea of what fairies are. I have enjoyed reading this book many times over and over. I am reading it again right now. I really liked the fact that even though the story switches between the fairies and Artemis you still never know what's going to happen. I would recommend this book for anyone and everyone eight years of age or older and have fun!

Artemis Fowl is a young boy who just seems too smart. Artemis Fowl is a genius. Artemis Fowl is rolling in money. But most of all, Artemis Fowl is a criminal mastermind. And he's a mastermind looking for one thing in specific. Fairies. He's been traveling and searching around the world to find a secret that humans don't even know that they don't know. He is looking for the secret to save his mother. Artemis is an anti-hero, a villain who'll do whatever it takes to achieve an ultimately good goal, and who makes many mistakes, friends, and enemies along the way.

I was really into the Artemis Fowl books when I read them. They are fun, thrilling, and enjoyable for a younger audience. The main character Artemis Fowl has a very impactful personality, and that, paired with his large vocabulary, and high goals, makes a character that you can connect with on both an emotional level, and can sympathize with very easily, despite his actions, and seemingly evil deeds that he's done along the way. All in all, Artemis Fowl is definitely a book i would recommend for preteens and younger folks.
