The Lightning Thief, by Rick Riordan

In the book The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan, the first in his Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, the main character Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out of a boarding school again. And that's the least of his troubles since lately the mythical monsters and gods of Mount Olympus seem to be real and he has angered a few of them, since Zeus's master lightning bolt has been stolen and Percy is the prime suspect. Percy and his friends must have only ten days to find Zeus's lightning bolt and return it and bring peace to a warring Olympus. But to finish the quest, Percy has to do more than just catch the thief. He must come to terms with the father that has abandoned him and solve the riddle of the Oracle that tells of the betrayal of a friend and must unravel a mystery more powerful than the gods themselves. I really liked this book because it mixed many things I like, like ancient mythology and stuff like that. I would recommend this and all the books in the series to people who like to read stuff like that.

Percy Jackson isn't who you would call your average twelve year old. He's a half-blood, the child of a god and mortal. After sixth grade, he learns that he is a half human half god, and is taken to Camp Half-Blood. Percy learns more about himself and his kind there. Camp Half-Blood not only serves as a place to learn, but somewhere to stay safe from monsters that live only to kill half-bloods. When Percy is thrown into this new world, Zeus's master bolt was stolen. Zeus accuses Poseidon, also Percy's father, of stealing it, and threatens to declare war if it is not returned by the summer solstice. To help clear his father's name, Percy sets out on a quest to find the bolt accompanied by his best friend, Grover, and Annabeth. His chivalry is admirable, but has he bitten off more than he can chew?

I had heard several spectacular reviews on The Lightening Thief and I must say, it did not disappoint. Rick Riordan did a great job of adding detail and being clear. I did wish that there was some sort of relationship with Annabeth and Percy, but it was acceptable without it. I did enjoy the clever combining of modern day scenarios and ancient Greek myths. I was shocked on what a disappointment the movie was, and strongly urge you to read the books instead of watching the movie. I would recommend this series to anyone who likes fantasy books and especially if you like Harry Potter.

Percy Jackson is a demigod. His father is the sea god, Poseidon. Percy goes to camp half blood and gets a quest. He goes out into the world with Annabeth and Grover to look for a stolen item.

I enjoyed the book because there is constant action and a little humor. It is very interesting and you can learn a little about Greek history.

Percy Jackson is a twelve-year-old boy with dyslexia and ADHD, who has been expelled from every school he has ever attended. When his class takes a field trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, his per-algebra teacher Mrs. Dodds transforms into a Fury and attacks him. Percy's Latin teacher, Mr. Brunner, throws Percy a magic sword named Anaklusmos (or Riptide), and sends Mrs. Dodds to Tartarus. During vacation, his friend Grover tells him to leave immediately, and they make their way to Camp Half Blood. On the way they battle the Minotaur and Percy's mother is taken. In a fit of rage, he takes down the beast. At the camp he is given a prophecy and he embarks on a journey to recover Zeus's lightning bolt.

This book is one of my favorites. I actually read the series before all the hype had started to take place. At home I have an autographed hard copy of the book that I treasure. I would recommend this to all kids.

The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan is the first in five part series of Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Percy Jackson seems to be an ordinary teen who gets kicked out of every boarding school he attends. After a weird field trip to the museum and a nightmare-ish drive with his mom, Percy wakes up at Camp Half-Blood. Percy learns that he is a demigod and shortly after Poseidon claims him as his child. Percy now has to learn of his new life and clear his name to prove his innocence. Zeus has pinned Percy to be the thief who stole his master lightning bolt. Percy and his friends go out on quest to find the lightning bolt, find the true thief, and return Zeus' bolt all within 10 days.

When I first read this book, I wasn't expecting much from it, but Rick Riordan quickly proved me wrong. There was never a point in the story where it got boring. Automatically, you're introduced to an intricate plot and any questions are quickly answered. It's addicting to the point where you can't put the book down and when you finally finish the book, you have to read the next in the series. The story is very creative and got me to be much more interested with greek mythology. I would definitely recommend this book to a friend and to those who enjoy or want to learn more about greek mythology. If you like adventure and fantasy books, this is a great one.

Percy Jackson is demigod, which means he is half human and half god. He is the son of Posiedon, but he is treated like a human. He lives with his original mother and abusive step-father. Percy goes on a field trip with his friend Grover. While on the field trip, Percy gets attacked by some greek monsters.Percy's teacher Mr.Brunner threw him a sword and Percy killed the monsters. After this incident, Percy is sent to a camp called Camp Half-Blood. While headed their with Grover and Percy's mom, they get attacked by a minotaur. Percy's mother was killed, but Grover and Percy made it to the camp. While there Percy meets Annabeth and Luke. They teach him what to do. Percy, Grover, and Annabeth go to find Zeus' missing lightning bolt while going on a perilous journey filled with monsters and demons. When they reach their destination in hell, they meet Hades. Hades trapped them in hell, but two could leave. Who volunteered to stay? Who stole the bolt?

This was one of the first books I have ever read that has had greek gods, monsters and lore. The first time I read it, I was instantly in love with the book. The 4th time reading it was better. The other books can't beat this one. This book is a masterpiece. It is filled with adventure every second and every chapter. I don't recommend the movie, but I do highly recommend this book.

This extremely fun and adventurous fantasy world of Percy Jackson gave me a thrill on every chapter of this book. Percy’s first adventure in the series of Percy Jackson and the Olympians was breathtaking. Lightning Thief starts the Olympus series with an introduction to the worlds of the Greek gods and demigods, living and surviving in the modern era. Percy Jackson, a teenage boy is accused of stealing the world’s most powerful weapon, Zeus’s lightning bolt. After he realizes this he travels with his friends Annabeth and Grover (a Satyr) to retrieve the bolt and return it to Zeus to clear Percy’s name. As he travels across the United States, Percy begins to realize who he truly is and what he is destined to become, the hero of Olympus.

Percy Jackson and the Lighting Thief was truly a great book in my opinion. Rick Riordan did a fantastic job in creating whole new world filled with Greek gods and monsters believable. The genre of the book is fantasy, but Rick Riordan somehow made it feel like a realistic fiction. Throughout the whole book it made me feel like I was part of the Greek demigod world, it truly absorbs the reader. I recommend this book for everyone, especially the people who enjoyed reading the Harry Potter series. It is a magnificent fantasy series that anyone can enjoy.

The book The Lightning Thief:Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan is a story about a twelve year old boy named Percy Jackson. Percy Jackson is diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia. He attends a private school for troubled kids in upstate New York called Yancy Academy. Percy's sixth grade class goes on a field trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art located in the city of Manhattan. Percy's Latin teacher Mr. Brunner and pre-algebra teacher Mrs.Dodds take the class into a room full of Greek and Roman artifacts. The class learns about these artifacts and they go outside for lunch. At lunch Percy is with his best friend Grover Underwood. A girl named Nancy Bobofit walks over and starts bullying Grover and Percy can't stand it. Percy stands up and the next thing you know, Nancy ends up in a fountain all soaked. Percy didn't push her though, while he was standing the water from the fountain made an unnatural motion leaving Nancy wet. Mrs.Dodds tells Percy to follow her and she leads him to the room with the Greek and Roman artifacts. Unexpectedly after talking to him about the incident at lunch and after asking the question "Did you really think you would get away with it?" she turned into a Monster and tries to kill him.She says that he has the lightning bolt so throughout the story Percy tries to return the lightning bolt to Zeus to bring peace to the land.

This book is great. I love the idea of this book. I am interested in this book, because I honestly enjoy reading books about mythology. My favorite part of the book is when Mrs.Dodds turns into a monster and tries to kill Percy. I think that part of the story shocks people the most. I would recommend this book to my friends. I would also recommend the other books in the series that came out. I love the idea behind these stories. This is a really interesting and thrilling story. I would also recommend this book to people who are interested in or like to learn about mythology.

This story is about a 12-year-old named Percy Jackson. One time on the field trip he pushed someone who was bullying his friend Grove Underwood. He received a punishment. He was not shocked about the punishment he saw the girl turn into a Greek . He was not shocked about the punishment he saw the girl turn into a Greek fury. His chaperon teacher threw a pen at him and it turned into a sword. He swung the sword at the monster and it turned into dust and disappeared. When he went to back by the students he noticed they didn't know what had happened and they didn't know who their chaperon teacher was. Over the school year Percy found out it was all a hallucination and that every time he brought up the subject Grove would be keeping his secrets. He then tried to find out Groves secrets.

The part I liked about this book was the part about Percy being curious about groves secrets The part I did not like was the part when he was getting attacked. I really like this book. This book made me feel very curious about what was going to happen next. I would recommend this book to anyone. It is a book full of action and I think that anybody would like this book. I think that everybody I recommend this book too would like it. In my opinion this book is very interesting and I would love to read this book many times and I wouldn't be bored from reading this book it makes me curious about what is going to happen next and when you start reading this book you won't want to stop reading.

Percy jackson is a demi-god who finds out he is the son of Posiden the god of sea and brother to Hades and Zeus. Zeus's master bolt the most powerful weapon that can kill gods is missing. Percy and his friends, other demi-gods, go on a journey to the underworld. They believe the bolt is with Hades, the ruler of the underworld, who hates Zeus for imprisoning him in the underworld to guard the seal of Cronos the titan who reeked havoc in the world before the gods existed. Before they start there journey to the underworld Percy first needs some things that will allow him to leave the underworld not stay there for all eternity.

Most of the parts i liked were the fighting. The author had make the book to show the tory to you like you were present. My most favorite part is the ending but i cant reveal this part sorry. I would love to recommend the book to you because it is really interesting. I guess you have to read the book to understand my favorite part. The other part that i like is the camp explanation because it makes me interested a lot.

Percy Jackson is a kid in sixth grade. He gets kicked out of schools every year, and always insists it's not his fault- bad things just seem to happen to him. One day, Percy and his best friend Grover are on a field trip to a museum, when suddenly, their teacher turns into a horrifying creature! Just like that, Percy enters a world of Greek mythology, full of powerful gods and terrifying monsters. Together with a girl named Annabeth, they must go on a quest to prove Percy's innocence and find the lightning thief, encountering many obstacles they must prevail against.

I really loved this book because although it does start out rather slow, it quickly picks up speed, launching you into a world of magic and monsters. The story has a lot of unexpected twists and turns, and nearly every one is a surprise. One of my favorite things is Percy’s narration of all these events- he’s not great at figuring out what’s going on (that’s what Annabeth is for), but his sass and humor more than makes up for it. Even the chapter titles are hilarious! Overall, I think it was a really great read, and one many would enjoy. It’s the kind of book that will leave you anxious to read the next-good thing there’s four more!

Percy Jackson doesn’t seem to fit into anywhere he goes. He’s gotten kicked out of almost every school he went to. His father left him before he was born and his selfless and kind mother is now married to an obnoxious and ungrateful man. His life is turned around when he learns that he’s the son of the Greek God of the Seas, Poseidon. Everything that’s happened in his life starts making sense, but now he has a real mission. This mission will make him prove himself to the Gods and, most importantly, his father. Percy Jackson has to find the stolen lightning bolt of Zeus with Annabeth, daughter of Athena, and Grover, a satyr, and bring it back to the Gods.

I read this book a few years ago and re-read it not long ago. The book can’t be compared with the movie because it’s different and better. One thing I like about this book is that it takes the classic tales of the Greek Gods and twists them up by making the kids of the Gods tell tales about them. I like this book because it shows the confusion and all the emotions of Percy Jackson when he finds out who his father truly is and when he discovers his powers. I would recommend this book to people who like fantasy books and books that involve adventure or Greek mythology.

When tragedy strikes, Percy Jackson is taken to a place called Camp Half-blood. There, he discovers that he is the son of the Greek sea god Poseidon. With friends old and new, Percy embarks on a quest to retrieve Zeus’s mighty thunderbolt and prevent a Civil War. Along the way, Percy and his friends face monsters from Greek myth, travel across America, and encounter some of the most renowned gods.

Most of my friends have already finished the Percy Jackson series, and they always mention how good the books are. When I finally managed to get access to the first book, I was really excited. After finishing it, I’m glad to say it did not disappoint! I’ve always had a great interest in mythology, so it was cool to see all the myths and stories I’d read about when I was little come to life. The author was also able to incorporate the modern world in a way that wasn’t overwhelming at all. I’d definitely recommend starting the series to anyone that wants a good summer read.
