A Journey to the Center of the Earth, by Jules Verne

The classic book A Journey to the Center of the Earth, by Jules Verne, was a book I wouldn't mind reading again. The plot introduces 3 men who want to see what no mortal has seen before, and take a journey to the center of the Earth. It was a great book mainly because of the plot and the action it had in it. As the men progress deeper, they encounter more and more problems, and start to doubt whether or not they should have done this. My favorite part of the book was how it ends, but I don't want to give it away. There were a lot of interesting things in it, like how they used an eruption of hot water to bathe for the first time in weeks. The book also had some laughs in it, and I would recommend it to either a very good young reader or somebody that is at least 12, because the dialogue at times can get confusing, and the vocabulary that is used is somewhat complex. I personally give it a 4 out of 5, and the only exception was that it was just a bit too short and the ending ruined the concept. However, it was a great book in the sense of an action novel, and anybody interested in humans reaching the core of Earth should read this book. - Reviewed by Gamer, grade 9. .

Review: Journey to the Center of the Earth, by Jules Verne

Professor Lindenbrock (uncle of the eccentric 19-year-old Axel), while rummaging through a bookstore found something of great interest to him: a loose parchment in a book. The parchment was written by Snorro Turleson. After deciphering the coded note, he noticed it detailed how to get to the center of the world. Being the nutcase that he is, Professor Lindenbrock went off with his niece, Axel, to the location of the entrance of this passage into the depths of the planet. He got all his money, bought many supplies, and hired a strong Icelandic man named Hans. Off they went into what would become the greatest journey of the era!

This book (unlike the recent movie) is full of scientific intrigue and in my opinion is much better than a 2-hour movie can reproduce. But before I go on about this marvel of classic literature, I must say that the movie has 95% less overall content and 66.6% different characters (not a young man and woman, but an old man and a strong Icelandic). This book is full of adventure, action, and of course Jules Verne's traditional science fiction. The book is a classic and should be enjoyed by all, not just me and a few other lucky people. I would recommend this to fans of Sci-Fi, Action, and people who want something interesting to read. And the book gets better by the meter they go deeper.
