The Earth, My Butt, and Other Big, Round Things, by Carolyn Mackler

In The Earth, My Butt, and Other Big, Round Things, by Carolyn Mackler, Virginia Shreves is a curvy, shy, insecure girl living in the city. After being criticized about her weight, she decides that enough is enough. Soon, she breaks out of her own, dyes her hair purple, gains a whole lot of confidence, and becomes the girl she always wanted to be after a lot of heartbreaking obstacles. Virginia is an inspiration because she shows girls that being beautiful on the outside is nothing if you aren't beautiful on the inside. I recommend this book for all teenage girls. This book is exciting, heartwarming, and a pleasure to read. I loved it and so will you! - Reviewed by Ina, grade 9. .
