Solitaire by Alice Oseman

Solitaire by Alice Oseman follows Tori Spring, a quiet and sarcastic high school student who feels disconnected from the world around her. Her life starts to shift when a mysterious group called “Solitaire” begins pulling elaborate pranks at her school. As Tori becomes more involved in figuring out who is behind it, she also meets Michael, whose personality contrasts strongly with hers. The story focuses on relationships, identity, and the challenges of growing up.

I think Solitaire is a really different kind of book compared to typical teen stories. It’s not super fast-paced, but it’s very real and honest about how people feel, especially when dealing with loneliness or not fitting in. Tori is not always likable, but that actually makes her feel more realistic. I liked how the book doesn’t sugarcoat things and shows both the good and bad sides of friendships.
