This Inevitable Ruin by Matt Dinnaman
Carl and Donut have made it to the 9th floor. The theme: a giant battlefield where they fight alien factions that want to kill them. But for the first time, the crawlers have their own teams. They fight long and hard, gaining and losing friends, and vanquishing enemies. The aliens are tired of this, and pull out all the stops. But the crawlers aren't so easily beat!
I absolutely love This Inevitable Ruin by Matt Dinniman. It keeps you on your toes, makes you laugh, makes you sad, and all around is just an absolute delight. Anybody that likes a sci/fi and fantasy mashup with a hearty amount of action and thrills, this book is for you. It actually made me think a lot about aliens AND magic; are we alone out here; are aliens nice; and most importantly, can I make this book explode with my mind? But seriously, this got me thinking and every turn. I loved it.

Comments
This book is intense but also surprisingly funny at times. I liked how it mixes action, dark humor, and emotional moments, especially through Carl’s character. The world-building is really creative, and the constant danger keeps things exciting. Sometimes it can get a little chaotic or overwhelming, but that’s part of what makes it feel real and unpredictable. I’d recommend it to people who like fast-paced stories, video game-style worlds, and a mix of humor with darker themes.
