Attack on Titan, by Hajime Isayama

After the appearance of Titans, Humanity was left to hide behind the walls of the last human stronghold where they would know peace for 100 years. But Titans, the enormous humanoids that live only to kill and eat humans, have finally broken into the city and threatened humanity's existence once again.

Attack on Titan, by  Hajime Isayamais a very intriguing read, never really giving the reader a full explanation, but enough to understand what is happening. From the beginning, we are thrown into the action with no lengthy introduction. Mysteries are presented to us left and right, making us really read between the lines. This method of story-telling leaves the reader engrossed in revealing all the secrets there are to not only the story presented, but to the world and its lore. Not all of the characters are believable or relatable, but the twists this series presents to us more than makes up for it.

In order to defend oneself from the flesh-eating giants and prevent extinction, the last human survivors built walls a century ago. Eren Yeager is one of the fortunate few to make it to safety alive when the wall is destroyed and the massive titan appears one hundred years later. However, not before seeing his mother die at the hands of the enormous beasts. Eren enlists in the military with the hopes of joining the fabled Survey Corps, a division of the military that travels from outside walls and engages in combat with the titans straight. Eren swears to exact revenge and spread humankind's future beyond the encircling walls.

Although the artwork is great and the plot is pretty fantastic, be ready. This is a really frightening topic. At least there is the fact that it is classified as horror. Since individuals are being eaten left and right, it can be difficult if you have a sensitive heart or have a tendency to bond with people easily. If so, I would recommend that you shouldn't read this book. I'm hopeful that future volumes will reveal more about the characters' backstories because they are fascinating. I adore how distinctively varied each person is. They all have distinctive characteristics, and the artwork is flawless, making it simple to distinguish between them. For once, there were no confusing or difficult-to-understand panels. It was fantastic.
