City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

Clary wants to go to Idris to find a cure for her mother. When Jace and the others leave without Clary, she creates a Portal. After Jace tells her to leave, she befriends Sebastion. When she finds out Simon is imprisoned, she must rescue him.
I loved this book so much! There were so many plot twists, the end being the biggest of them all. I was so not expecting what happened in this book to happen. It was all just so amazing.

Clary is a normal 16 year old girl living in New York City with her mother. She is an artist, and her best friend is Simon. One night, she goes clubbing with Simon and sees three other teens kill a weird looking boy with a glowing sword. She returns home to find her house in disarray and her mother missing. One of the boy from the previous night is there - handsome, golden Jace, takes her to an invisible castle. Inside are the Shadowhunters, who kill demons and protect normal humans. Clary is a Shadowhunter, a secret her mother kept from her to protect her for 16 years. City of Bones is about Clary joining the Shadowhunter community and the relationships made and changed with other characters like Jace and Simon while also struggling about her personal identity and fighting against evil.

Cassandra Clare's novel is a great read for any readers who are into fantasy teen novels. It is full of drama, mystery, action, magic, and romance. Most of the characters are relatabe teens who have similar experiences and emotions to the people reading. If you enjoyed the City of Bones, you will enjoy the rest of the five books in the Mortal Instruments series and the next two of Clare's Shadowhunter series, The Infernal Devices and The Dark Artifices. Along with the two other series, other stand - alone spinoff books delve into the Shadowhunter world in which many readers enjoy immersing themselves in, including myself.
