Holes, by Louis Sachar

Holes was an exciting book written by Louis Sachar. It was a story of an innocent young teen boy, Stanley Yelnats, that gets blamed for stealing shoes. In the court, he was given the choice to serve in jail or go to a camp for bad boys. Stanley chooses to go to the camp because he had never got to go to camp due to his financial issues. But when he gets there, he is required to dig a hole, 5 feet in width and length, everyday. Then, Stanley finds out the truth behind all the hole digging. Stanley's friend, Zero, runs away from the camp into the desert. Stanley has to make a decision, to either stay in the camp, or run into the endless desert to find his friend.

This book has been one of my favorites. It is filled with exciting moments. Some teens may also be able to connect with the main character, Stanley Yelnats. I had very much fun reading this book, and I recommend this book to everyone.

Holes is a classic novel written by Louis Sachar and remade as a movie. Holes is about a young boy names Stanley Yelnats. Stanley's grandfather tells him of a curse on their family, set on them generations ago by a fortune-teller and ancestor named Madame Zeroni due to a promise that was not kept by Elya Yelnats, Stanley's great-great-grandfather. Stanley steals a pair of baseball shoes of a famous player who was auctioning them for charity. When he is caught, he is convicted and sentenced to Camp Green Lake, a juvenille correctional facility where the inmates dig holes to "build character". Little do they know that they are ACTUALLY digging for. As the story goes on, Stanley faces many challenges, makes a lot of enemies and what he finds may change he and his family forever.

Holes is one of those books that you just have to finish. The plot is amazing yet simple and the events that unfold are plesantly surprising. This is a real page-turner with deep character developement and a plot so thick that you will want to tear into the book as soon as you read the first chapter. I enjoyed reading this book at a young age and I even reread it when I got older because no matter how old you are this story is one that you will never forget. Much better than the movie in my opinion and I promise you will enjoy it just as much as I did.

Holes, by Louis Sachar is about a boy named Stanley Yelnats which apparently is cursed by his great-great grandfather, Elya Yelnats. Stanley was accused of stealing a pair of shoes from a homeless shelter, even though he has been trying to claim that they fell from the sky. Now, he is sentenced to 18 months in Camp Green Lake where all he has to do is to dig holes and "build character". Although, Stanley doesn't think that's what they're doing. They are definitely looking for something, and Stanley must find out what it is.

This book is genuinely one of the best ones I have read so far. The whole plot of the story is very interesting and creative. I have read this book 3 time and I enjoy word for word every part of it. I think that the people that would like this book are my teachers because when I asked some of them the book I was reading, they said that both the movie and book were really good. The story made me feel very bad for Stanley and the accusation of him stealing shoes, sending him to a torture camp. Overall, I really recommend this book!

The novel "Holes" is about a boy named Stanley Yelnats, who gets accused of being a thief and gets sent to a very mysterious and disorganized camp. In the camp, Stanley has to dig holes every day and has to endure with people that seem to have their own little secrets. Still and all, Stanley goes through these tiring days and even gets a nickname in the camp. Even so, Stanley just wonders when he will get out of the freakish camp.

What I liked about this book were the characters. Each and every one of them had their own secrets, so that amused even until the end of the novel. Their personalities are also all different, that is probably why I always knew which character was talking. I think that everyone in this world will like this book. First of all, it is very amusing to read. You will never get bored when you are reading this book. Second of all, solving the mysteries of each character along the way is also a reason why I am recommending this book. Last but not least, it is a very famous book. Almost everyone I know read this book. This book made me think that getting accused of something you did not do, will make even the kindest person in the world furious. You are basically taking the blame for a crime you did not cause. Overall, I recommend this book to everyone and if you cannot read the book, you should at least watch the movie adaptation.

The book is focused on an overweight boy named, Stanley Yelnats that is sent to Camp Green Lake, a hot and dry desert for stealing. His family has a curse that came from his great-great-grandfather that was n the Camp green lake, not for stealing. The warden is obsessed with finding something "interesting, " so Syanely is required to dig five feet deep and five feet wide holes under the sun every day. He becomes friends with a quiet kid named Zero.

The book is an adventure fiction book. As you continue to read it, it gets more interesting and you get more into it. The author professionally expresses each character's feelings and makes you feel like being one of them. I recommend it to students age 10 - 14.
