Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side, by Beth Fantanskey

Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side, by Beth Fantanskey, is about 18-year old Jessica is just planning on stressing over her senior year in high school. Her life seems normal, living on her families' farm, going out, and experimenting with hair. But when a Romanian exchange student comes and claims to be her vampire betrothed, she doesn't know what to do. Not only is Lucius saying that they are engaged but that she is also a vampire princess. With all this going on Jess is also beginning to feel her vampire instincts kicking into gear. With her vampire fiance courting the most popular girl in school Jessica is very confused. Does she give into her newly found vampire instincts and marry Lucius or does she stay in the U.S and risk civil War?
Vampire lovers reunite for this exuberant novel by Bath Fantanskey. The story is one not given before. The shy and quiet main character finds out that she is a vampire princess. With her powers obviously rising and maturing Jessica is in a state of awe. Her supposed fiance is also making things difficult on her. He does not seem to understand her. With a case of Edward Cullen on her hands Jessica's story is one that should be read. I liked this book and I hope others do to.
-Reviewed by T.A., grade 10.
