Sunrise of the Reaping, by Suzanne Collins
The second prequel to the series, The Hunger Games. Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins is a continuation story of the event of the 2nd Quater Quell, where all 12 districts are to reap double the amount of tributes in honorary of the 2nd Quell. When Haymitch Abernathy, the story's main protagonist, is reaped to the capital. His opinion of the games changes as he discovers a further depth of the Hunger Games and tries to overthrow the Games without knowing the consequences of challenging President Snow.
Sunrise on the Reaping was much more than a prequel to the book. I believe it had so many more answers and openings to the Series "The Hunger Games" trilogy and the prequel story before "The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes." it made sense as a read-along. As a Hunger Games fan, it also broke my heart as the story continued because of how much suffering the main character went through and how these games truly changed a person. I 1000% recommend this book. But spoiler, you might cry. </3
