Love & Other Words, by Christina Lauren

In the book Love and Other Words, the protagonist Macy Sorensen unexpectedly crosses paths with her former highschool sweetheart, Elliot, which prompts memories of their sweet, yet painful past. Depicted through alternate timelines of the past and present, teenagers Macy and Elliot develop a strong relationship, but an unfortunate incident one night drove them apart. As adults, the two are now estranged, but the question is, will they overcome their disastrous past?

If you were to ask me what one of my favorite romance books is, Love and Other Words would be my immediate answer. I really love how we get to learn what Macy and Elliot’s characteristics were as kids because it helped me understand and empathize with them. Christina Lauren’s excellent writing also did an amazing job at invoking many emotions from me. The tragedy and romance between Macy and Elliot are portrayed perfectly from beginning to end, which I really enjoyed, and you would too!
