The Bad Beginning, by Lemony Snicket

After their parents and home were lost in a tragic fire, the Baudelaire children were left all alone. A distant relative by the name of Count Olaf was eager to take care of them. Unfortunately, the children quickly discovered that Count Olaf did not care for their well being, but instead, he cared for their big fortune that they would inherit from their parents. The despicable man goes to great lengths to find loopholes in attaining the inheritance as the kids tried to escape his grasp.

My fourth grade teacher told me about these books, and I was instantly hooked when I began reading. I have reread this book multiple times due to how much I enjoy it and the fact that this series was a huge part of my childhood. I would recommend The Bad Beginning, by Lemony Snicket to anyone as the plot is super interesting and the series does not fail to keep you hooked. Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire are captivating protagonists who figure out how to stay safe and fend for themselves after the tragedy.
