If He Had Been With Me, by Laura Nowlin

Amazon.com: If He Had Been with Me: 9781728205489: Nowlin, Laura: Books
The book begins with the relationship of Autumn and Finn as they have been childhood friends because of their moms for many years. As they start their journey in high school they begin to separate pathways and go off to find their own significant others. However, over time things don't go well in both their relationships, leading them to cross paths again. They realized they both had an undermining love for each other the whole time and regained that sense of joy and spark that they had missed.

This book is for someone who definitely can handle heartbreak and be numb to pain. This book starts very slow so people who go to reach for this book should be prepared for a slow plot. The beginning up until more than halfway of the book is just about both of their lives with a lot of detail. I binged this book because I wanted some action to occur every time that I was reading which made me more anxious to figure out the main plot. Overall, If He Had Been With Me, by Laura Nowlin, was fully based on romance.

Autumn and Finn, two teenagers who have been best friends since childhood, have been facing some problems. They both managed to grow apart somehow but Autumn still finds herself in love with Finn. As High School starts, Autumn makes new friends and has a new boyfriend but still constantly thinks about Finny.. The two teens constantly cross paths but never have a meaningful conversation, but will their relationship ever go back to how it used to be?

I would most likely read this novel again because I found it very intriguing. At first, the novel is very slow and not as interesting, but towards the end, it's impossible to stop reading. The development of the characters over time is also very interesting because it shows the readers how people change over time but still go back to what they truly love. This book was easy to read and comprehend but the ending is very upsetting.

The relationship between Finny and Autumn is unique because they spent a lot of time apart for years but later came back to each other.
