To All the Boys I've Loved Before, by Jenny Han

To All the Boys I've Loved Before, by Jenny Han, is a young-adult romance novel centering around Lara Jean Song Covey, a sixteen-year-old half-white, half-Korean girl. In the novel, Lara Jean writes lengthy letters to boys she develops crushes on. The drama first begins when her older sister, Margot, leaves for college in Scotland. In the process, she had to break up with her boyfriend, Josh, who also happens to be the Song Covey's neighbors.

Personally, book wasn't my cup of tea only because I'm not the biggest fan of romance novels. However, the book would definitely appeal to teenagers and possibly even adults who like and enjoy romance as a genre. The story was well-paced and it didn't leave you bored. Since it was filled to the brim with drama, you won't stop reading to finally see how everything hashes out. It felt like each chapter had another situation that Lara Jean had to solve.

In a town where everyone thinks a girl named Lara Jean Song Covey is just a normal high school girl until a couple of love letters change everything. Imagine if you wrote love letters to each person you’ve ever had a crush on, and those letters are mysteriously mailed out to them. Lara Jean’s life gets much more complicated after the boys receive those letters. To fix things, Lara Jean must fake a relationship with the most popular boy in school. What will she do when her feelings become real.

I personally liked this book because I like simple high school drama. I also wanted to compare this book to the movie. From what I’ve learned, the movie is missing lots of detail about how the main character became closer to each other. These characters are understandable. Especially Lara Jean and Peter. Lara Jean goes through some challenges in the book that lots of us face in life. Lara Jean is very quirky and advanced. The theme is to not be too much of an introvert. This book is comforting.

This book is about a girl named Lara Jean who writes secret letters to every boy she has ever liked. She keeps them hidden in a box and never plans to send them. One day, the letters are mailed out by accident, and all the boys find out how she feels. Lara Jean is embarrassed and confused, but she tries to deal with it. Along the way, she learns about love, friendship, and being honest with herself and others.

I really liked this book because it felt sweet and real. Lara Jean reminds me of how many teens feel when they are unsure about love and growing up. The story had funny and emotional parts that kept me interested. I liked how Lara Jean cared about her family and how close she was with her sisters. The fake relationship part was fun to read about too. It was cute to see how things changed between her and Peter. I would tell other teens to read it because it is an easy and enjoyable story.
