Macbeth, by William Shakesepeare

Macbeth, by William Shakespeare, is the story of a man corrupted by power who ultimately becomes evil. Macbeth is a noble, and he hears a prophecy from three witches that he will become king. The only way to become king would be to kill the current king, Duncan, so Lady Macbeth, his wife, convinces him to commit the crime. This murder sparks a flame in Macbeth and throughout the play, Macbeth continues to unravel until he reaches madness.

Macbeth was an okay read for me. It is written by Shakespeare, so naturally, it was pretty hard to understand. I read Macbeth for school, and it definitely was not as bad as other works we read. It was interesting to see the character development in Macbeth and his wife. I would recommend Macbeth to students who enjoy classics and Shakespeare's works.

The Tragedy of Macbeth revolves around Macbeth, a thane and king of Scotland during the 11th century, where he learns of his future and fate from 3 witches. At first, he doesn't believe the witches and believes he never heard his fate, but as events which the witches predicted start to occur, he stars to believe his future. His downfall is caused by his greed and arrogance as he tries to kill his enemies and take the throne of Scotland.

I have always enjoyed reading Shakespeare's plays, but I enjoyed the Tragedy of Macbeth far more than his other plays. The careful progression of Macbeth's insanity is depicted through his mindless actions that create chaos within his family and friends. As he rises through the ranks of Scotland with murder, the isolation between him and the world becomes evident, as he grows distant from his wife and his friends. I loved this subtle progression as it kept the book interesting to read.

Macbeth, a Scottish General, is promised that he can be King by three witches, however, this comes with a price. Macbeth kills the current king and then proceeds to kill others out of fear of his powers being taken away once he receives his position of king. His wife, Lady Macbeth aids and abets in these behaviors. Yet, both of them eventually start experiencing negative psychological effects due to their behavior, and the nobles start to speculate that they shouldn't be in power.

Another classic by Shakespeare, Macbeth is a dramatic and entertaining novel that keys in on issues of greed and power. This is such a great book and is based on some accurate historical events, making it perfect for any history buffs. Shakespeare's writing style always delivers stories so well and this is no exception. Truly one of his best works, this captures the important message of how greed in large quantities is a very dangerous thing. Everyone should read this novel!
